Geophysical Survey

Bibby HydroMap were commissioned in 2011 to carry out geophysical surveys at a number of aggregates licence areas in the Humber region.

The main objective of the survey was to acquire a high resolution data set for the evaluation of aggregate resource assessment prior to geotechnical investigations.

This included the acquisition of accurate 100% coverage bathymetry, seabed features and shallow sub bottom information over each of the areas.

Data acquisition was carried out by of Bibby HydroMap's own dedicated survey vessels; Bibby Tethra, Lia and Chartwell. Both Bibby Tethra and Lia were equipped with a C-NAV 3050 dGPS, Reson 7125 multi-beam echo sounder, surface towed Applied Acoustics AA200 boomer sub-bottom profiler and Klein dual frequency side scan sonar systems.

Chartwell was equipped with C-NAV 2050 dGPS, Reson 7101 multi-beam echo sounder, surface towed Applied Acoustics AA200 boomer sub-bottom profiler and a Klein dual frequency side scan sonar system.

Based upon the water depths at each site, the survey line spacing was varied in order to achieve the required 100% seabed coverage.
