After a successful meeting in Liverpool in September the North West Hydrographic Society have another meeting planned for Friday November 22nd in Heysham Port, generously hosted by Peel Ports. As November is a month for Remembrance, the North West Region will be enjoying talks based around this theme.
Caroline Tweedle of Osiris Projects will discuss how the unusual magentic pattern seen in an intertidal magnetometer survey was in fact the result of WWII glider defences on a North West beach.
Following this, Chris Howlett at UKHO will talk on the clandestine surveys required to facilitate the D-Day landings. Chris has also kindly offered to bring along the fly-through of the Mulberry B survey carried out using a Reson MBES and laser scanner, which made the cover of Soundings Issue 57 and will be available to chat to anyone interested in this survey.
